There are a wide variety of emergency kits available for purchase at a multitude of locations, and the differences can vary by individual. Every person lives in a different area, and in case of an emergency, wants to be sure they have something special. When preparing for a possible emergency situation, purchasing a emergency kit may be a good idea, but not necessary. Many people choose to put together their own emergency kit that can be even more effective for them and their families. Of course almost all emergency kits should include a few things needed to stay alive, and emergency-kits.org is here to tell you what to look for.
- Water, and lots of it.
- At least three days supply of food.
- A hand crank, or battery powered radio.
- Flashlights.
- First aid kit.
- Personal sanitation equipment.
- Maps.
Even if you do purchase a emergency kit that does not have everything you believe it should, put some of these other things next to it, in some sort of container. Some other items that can be included in your emergency kits that cannot be provided by a manufacturer are:
